Dayspring PS and Supported Living

Dayspring PS Supported Living Service is developed to provide supported living accommodation to discharged clients who require support to get back into the community and are usually between the ages of 18 to 65 years old.

The specialist service is managed by a Registered Manager and a Deputy Manager, who are responsible for supporting adults recovering from mental health to live independent, enjoyable, and fulfilling lives. The service will be regulated by the Care Quality Commission who will regularly visit our services to inspect the quality of our support. We shall share our most recent CQC rating for our Supported Living service regularly on this site. Supported living accommodation shall be provided on a tenancy basis, where each person we support would have a tenancy agreement that grants them legal rights over their homes and the opportunity to have more independence and fulfilment in their lives. For those people who need it, we support them to understand and manage their tenancy agreement. Personalised care shall be tailored to the needs and wishes of each tenant, and they will receive a detailed assessment before placement, to determine the level of support needed with mutual agreement with their sponsoring agency. It is at this stage that personalities and interests are considered, in order to place tenants alongside other housemates who complement their character.

What we do.

Most times, support is funded by the local authorities and adult social services, or occasionally through private finance. A dedicated social worker will assess their needs and, based on this assessment, an agreement is made between the person, sponsoring agency, discharging hospitals and us. The agreement shall clearly state what kind of support they shall receive from us. A sponsoring agency will pay an agreed amount to cover the cost of this support. In some cases, tenants may be highly independent in some areas of life, but more dependent in others. As such, support will usually be individualised, and personally tailored towards each person. It could be the case that a tenant may be independent enough to only need a short visit from a support worker; or it may be that a tenant needs 24-hour care, requiring a support worker to be in the property all day and night. Unless they have private finance from family, employment or other sources, tenants are often eligible to apply for a range of welfare benefits including housing benefit. In such situation, tenants will use their benefits to pay for their rent, utilities, groceries and activities. Where needed, we support tenants to apply for and manage their benefits.
